Windward||Windword
July 14 - August 6, 2016
Windward||Windword features the works of two media artists at the end of their immersion in the Digital Arts and Experimental Media program at the University of Washington. As a self-reflexive body of research, the project explores the role of technology in shaping communication, relying on the experience and metaphor of wind as breeze, gust and breath that influence the way the artists have sought to connect with their social and geographical environments.

At its core, the works celebrate a return to an elemental medium of communication, exposing the way flux and movement create poetic narratives that are embedded within our global infrastructures. In the hands of the artists, wind is reimagined as a source of disruption, an interplay of power, and a way to orient us toward the global systems we are all profoundly connected to.

Windward||Windword is a collection of interactive installation, spatial sound, 4-channel video and sculpture and is the PhD dissertation show of Joel Ong and Inmi Lee.
